Dragon claws and Masonic imagery are common motifs in meerschaum pipe making, but they're rarely seen together, making this figural design from Ali of AKB something of a treat. The sharp talons of a dragon grip a Billiard-like bowl that has the Mason's builder square and compass carved into its fore. The scales and claws of the dragon are rendered with the upmost attention to detail and really bring the distinctive design to life. With time and use, the stummel will accrue the warm tans, browns, and golds of patina, coming to more fully harmonize with the amber-hued stem that stretches out back.
