This Calabash from AKB features the form's characteristic flared, overhanging rim, which here presides over the bowl's swift taper to a jutting, Pickaxe-like heel. The shank kicks high out of the mid-set transition and expands across its length into an ornate stem of jet-black acrylic. The stummel wears a carved finish that provides plenty of texture for the fingers to explore and covers the flanks of the bowl in petal-shaped recesses. With time and after plenty of flavor-neutral smoking sessions, this piece will patinate, taking on tan, brown, and gold hues.
