A lengthy, intricately carved meerschaum from AKB, this rendition depicts a mountain lion crouched on a tree limb, ears tipped forward alertly and muscular haunches ready to spring the big cat forward toward its victim. The tall, capaciously chambered bowl displays a taper from its plump base and serves as the tree, perhaps, that hosts the apex predator. It should be interesting to see this piece accrue the warm tones of patina as it's smoked over time, and it's topped by a stylish acrylic stem.
