AKB Meerschaum: Carved Owl (Kenan) (with Case) Tobacco Pipe

An exceptionally lengthy pipe at nearly nine inches long, this figural piece from Kenan of AKB Meerschaum depicts an alert owl at the fore of its extended reach of curved amber stem. Said stem is fitted with a trio of expansion rings and meets a tapering length of shank that erupts into a wreath of feathers as it nears the bowl. This is met by yet another pattern of feathers, though these are smaller, fluffier even, and cover the rest of the shank, framing it with rich detail throughout. Each of these feathers are beautifully realized, and the face of the owl itself is as well, staring forward with piercing eyes surrounded by feathery striations which lead into the ears, its beak poised and ready to strike at prey. Beautifully rich with texture, this pipe is primed for future patination as it's smoked, with plenty of peaks and crevices for bespoke hues to accrue.
