This Freehand from AKB brings to mind the Cobra shape, with its wrapping ridgelines, cresting fore, and rear-slopping rim. The shank here kicks high away from the bowl and meets a long Churchwarden stem that arcs for a comfortable smoking posture. The bright amber hues of the mouthpiece provide a touch of color to the composition, contrasting against the pale whiteness of the meerschaum stummel. After plenty of flavor-neutral smoking sessions, this piece will begin to patinate, taking on tans, browns, and golds and coming to more fully harmonize with the stem.
