AKB Meerschaum: Carved Reverse Calabash Bent Dublin (with Case) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-574-6712
A truly stunning work from the artisans of Turkish workshop AKB Meerschaum, this bent Dublin is a large, towering pipe that presents a monolithic bowl at the end of its slightly upturned shank. Said shank features reverse Calabash engineering, creating a condensation chamber inside its walls that promotes a cooler, drier smoke and makes full use of its chubby outline. Throughout its length, the shank is carved in a basket-like woven pattern that continues through the underside until reaching the heel, where rests a blooming floral carving. The bowl standing atop this heel reaches more than three inches in height and holds a chamber of cavernous depth, its thick walls flaring out to a rim that then tapers and domes at the middle. These walls are intricately designed, with a hollowed lattice pattern that provides ample texture for the fingers to appreciate, while the rim is decorated with curving fronds that further separate it from the rest of the bowl visually. A trim and handsomely stylized stem of jet-black promotes comfortable smoking thanks to its demure downturn, and the off-white stain of the stummel emulates early patination, with plenty of potential for future darkening as it is smoked.
