Abe Herbaugh: Smooth Tomato with Horn Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-614-0090
Abe Herbaugh's Tomato shapes have seen something of a curious evolution. From those more casually robust renditions we saw a while back to his overtly organic feats of asymmetric shaping, it seems the carver isn't content to rest on his laurels in any respect (he does enjoy long-distance hikes, after all.) So, after "going the distance," so to speak, Abe has come back around the bend once more with this fellow, which doesn't as much shout "organic dynamism" into a cavernous ravine as it whispers it into a quiet forest. Put simply: the American carver fashioned an energetic, forward-inclined rendition of the classic form, kissed with a touch of plateau to reinforce its naturalesque disposition, and then complemented the whole of it with a supple, creamy horn mount, echoed in shape by his use of a Sixten-designed, Gladiolus bulb stem base. Finished in a warm, smoldering contrast, this fellow is certain to make for a beautiful, steadfast companion on your journey through pipedom.
