Abe Herbaugh: Sandblasted Tomato with Horn

Product Number: 002-614-0114

The few Tomato designs we've seen from Abe Herbaugh have varied from short, plump and bulbous shapes to the more streamlined, as shown here. Low-slung and squat, it flows sinuously through a lifting shank. With a well-tapered, bulb-like bowl and just the slightest touch of forward cant, it's quite organic in its styling, paired to a particularly abbreviated shank and a longer, flaring horn mount. The rim is of plateau, and it scallops along the long axis of the pipe. A crisp sandblast brings out the best of the undulating grain around the entirety of the bowl, while the light tan stain pairs splendidly with the horn's natural patterns. It's an impressive piece with lots of natural charm.
