Abe Herbaugh: Sandblasted Apple with Horn Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-614-0222
American carver Abe Herbaugh tends to craft organic, Danish-inspired shapes, demonstrating an eye for precise lines, supple curves, and handsome accenting materials. This Apple is a brilliant example of Herbaugh's style, showcasing the artisan's ability to render classic, Anglo-French shapes in new and interesting ways. Almost Tomato-like in its build, the bowl here is squat and wide, its supple walls rising from a broad heel and tapering gradually upward to a taut rim. A cheeked transition follows the bowl and sees the start of a thick shank punctuated with a vibrant horn mount. Said mount receives a push-style saddle stem and adds some durability to the arrangement, its creamy complexion additionally providing a pop of color to the overall composition. A crisp, ruby-tinged sandblast completes the ensemble and highlights rippling growth rings across the bowl's flanks.
