Alexander Tupitsyn: Sandblasted Bent Brandy with Silver Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-622-0064
While we often associate Alexander Tupitsyn with an Ilsted-like use of geometry and line, his skills are not limited to those crisp-lined shapes. Here we have a charmingly classical take on the bent Brandy, its bowl plump near the base with a mild taper to rim, w hile its shank and stem curve softly at the rear, giving an almost gestural profile to the piece. It's been finished in one of his darker sandblasts, as well, the simplicity of the shape helping to throw more emphasis on the rippling growth rings brought out by the process, while its dark stain is accented perfectly by a shining band of sterling silver. Elegant work, and the sort that should please any fan of classic shaping.
