Andreas Bennwik: Smooth Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe

Take the characteristic Bennwik style of bent Dublin, with its sinuous, forward-reaching profile, and instead of a graceful curvature sported by the underside, render it with a crisply flattened base; do all of this and you might have something close to this offering from Swedish-Danish maker. Coupled with those shaping cues, the carver also imbued said facet with a complementary sense of curve to that initiated by the shape's upper lines, making for a profile with no shortage of liveliness or implied motion. A light hint of flare is seen at the shank, lined with licks of flame, paired beautifully to plenty of birdseye at the rim and underside, all cleanly divided by those aforementioned lines.
