Andreas Bennwik: Sandblasted Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-752-0010
While the other Dublin featured in this batch of pipes from Andreas Bennwik also boasts a sense of implied forward momentum, in this example Andreas has made that implication a little more explicit — setting the bowl to a strong forward cant with a continuous arcing curve along the underside to smooth things out nicely in profile. The result is a more obvious forward reaching aesthetic, yet one that's far from jaunty — with that aforementioned arc along the underside keeping the silhouette fluid and sweeping from end to end. What's more, Bennwik has hidden some subtle asymmetry in the design as well, orienting the pinched, eye-shaped rim along a diagonal axis, adding a little more character to the shape while also reinforcing the design's silhouette through strong leading lines along its twin ridges. Fittingly, it's finished here in a crisp, extra dark sandblast — unveiling some impressive blasted grain while keeping the texture low in profile so as not to compromise the shape's clean, defining lines.
