Bill Shalosky: Sandblasted Horn (483)
Product Number: 002-720-0118
With such a varied array of finishing techniques, accent media, and stylistic shaping influences, it's no wonder Bill Shalosky's work is so acutely his. Take this Horn for example: in form, it exudes the carver's penchant for drawing inspiration from the natural realm, with its tight-knit, upward-thrusting bowl rising from a gradual and softly arced transition. This form allows for a naturally ergonomic feel in hand, with the dark sandblasted finish offering pleasing texture underneath the finger pads and serves as an excellent stylistic contribution to the more modernist line work of the shape itself. Also notable is how the domed base of the cumberland mouthpiece seamlessly continues the shank's shaping while the stem's red and black tones perfectly complement the stummel's coloration.- Chuck Stanion
