Bill Shalosky: Sandblasted Rhodesian with Blackwood and Juma (585) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-720-0172

One of America's most well-known artisans, Bill Shalosky could be said to have some experience in pipe making, having fashioned pieces for Smoker's Haven, Chheda Pipes, and BriarWorks, as well as his own handmade fare. He's an artisan with the upmost respect for the craft, and he draws on all manners of pipes for inspiration. His deft understanding of shaping, engineering, and finishing is present in any pipe he crafts, and that's certainly true for this Rhodesian.

Sleek, elegant, and visually striking, this piece boasts a tall, upright bowl that stands stoically at the fore of an elongated shank and a refined tapered stem. A crisp beadline wraps around the top of the bowl and demarcates the domed rim from the rest of the stummel, while the shank stretches out the shape's overall length and merges seamlessly into the stem and accompanying accent. The accent here is a trim band of blackwood that stands out starkly against the Juma stem's pearly white hues. The bowl's rounded contours conform naturally to the hand, and the wide transition leaves more than enough room to drape a digit. A crisp sandblast dresses the stummel and brings vivid definition to natural grain orientation of the briar, highlighting some stunning birdseye across the bowl's flanks.
