Bill Shalosky: Smooth Bent Billiard with Juma (758) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-720-0287
When asked about the pipes that inspired him, Bill Shalosky points to "every pipe ever made," which makes sense when viewing the diverse range of shapes within his portfolio. His work can range from classic shape-chart standards to highly stylized, Danish-inspired pieces, with this bent Billiard being an example of the former. A lean, traditional take on the classic form, this piece boasts a gracile build and a silhouette marked by a subtle dynamism. Up front, a stocky bowl possesses a forward cant that thrusts the chamber's walls outward in visual prominence, its active posture bringing to mind the Cutty shape. A wide transition follows said bowl and marks the start of a trim shank that quickly gives way to a demurely curved tapered stem. The mouthpiece's bright complexion lends a touch of modern to the shape's otherwise traditional palette, and its gentle arc promotes a comfortable smoking posture. A band of Juma accents the stem base and further distinguishes this design, while a warm smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights a wealth of attractive grain.
