BriarWorks: Signature Light Sandblasted Fig (Adam Davidson Design) (2/100) Tobacco Pipe

Informed by the traditional Cutty, Adam Davidson's Signature Fig is one of the American carver's most well-known shapes. Its charming fusion of old world shaping and modern, organic cues lend it an affable disposition and a profile that's instantly recognizable. It's only fitting, then, that BriarWorks would present Adam's heralded design as part of the fifth installment of their Signature Series.

The high-set waistline of the Pear-like bowl offers a poised, forward-canted profile, leading the eye to the tight-knit spur below the transition, and subsequently to the upward-flicking shank. The feel in hand is easy and firm, as the nearly oval-shaped bowl practically marries itself to the hand. The chamber it presents is quite deep, placing an emphasis on depth over breadth, and sports a touch of conical taper. These Signatures are offered both smooth-stained, and seen here, wearing a rich sandblast, with this specimen (only the 2nd to be created) showcasing a display of gorgeously concentric, virgin-stained rings.
