BriarWorks: Original Dark Sandblasted Strawberry with White Stem (OR02) Tobacco Pipe

The "OR02" Strawberry shape was designed for BriarWorks by artisan pipe maker Todd Johnson. Though he has since left BriarWorks under Pete Prevost's direction, Todd co-founded the American workshop alongside Pete in 2013, helping to establish it as among the most respected and prolific pipe manufacturers in the United States. This Strawberry design reflects Todd's personal shaping style, which often caters to Danish artisan design cues, combined with BriarWorks' signature sense of muscularity and rounded curvature. The profile presents a consistent, forward-urging dynamism as the underside of the shank flows seamlessly through the bowl's fore, and the shank's elongation pays tribute to certain Danish pipes, particularly those fashioned by Lars Ivarsson. With a concave rim and domed stem base, this "OR02" Strawberry present a genteel, organic charm, beautifully embodying its namesake as well as Todd's refined artistry.

BriarWorks' Original series comprises shapes designed by iconic American artisans, representing uniquely individual forms compared to the shape-chart standards of the Classic series. While every BriarWorks stummel is carved on CNC (computer numerical control) machines based on pre-established templates for consistent shaping across renditions, the stem-fitting and finishing processes are entirely hand-applied by the American workshop's team of artisans: Pete Prevost, Bill Shalosky, Micah Redmond, and Sam Adebayo. All four men are artisan pipe makers in their own rights, and BriarWorks' production model of combining mass-production processes with hand-applied, artisanal techniques results in modestly priced pipes with the engineering and aesthetic quality of handmade work. This particular example wears the workshop's Dark sandblasted finish, offering rugged texture and a rustic persona.
