BriarWorks: Original Dark Smooth with Black Stem (OR01) Tobacco Pipe

Designed by Pete Prevost, BriarWorks' President and an artisan pipe maker himself, the "OR01" shape is a plump bent Apple that exhibits Pete's personal shaping style. His artisan portfolio prioritizes pipes that embody a preference for compact, sturdy, and invitingly muscular shapes, fitting into BriarWorks' overarching American style and resulting in perfect, everyday pipes. The "OR01" presents these design cues with a slight S-curve through the stem and shank and a bowl that bulges at the flanks in near spherical fashion. Said bowl maintains thick, insulating walls, accentuated by cheeking along the transition, and the overall design is extra compact for premium practicality and comfortable smoking.

BriarWorks' Original series comprises shapes designed by iconic American artisans, representing uniquely individual forms compared to the shape-chart standards of the Classic series. While every BriarWorks stummel is carved on CNC (computer numerical control) machines based on pre-established templates for consistent shaping across renditions, the stem-fitting and finishing processes are entirely hand-applied by the American workshop's team of artisans: Pete Prevost, Bill Shalosky, Micah Redmond, and Sam Adebayo. All four men are artisan pipe makers in their own rights, and BriarWorks' production model of combining mass-production processes with hand-applied, artisanal techniques results in modestly priced pipes with the engineering and aesthetic quality of handmade work. This particular example wears the workshop's Dark smooth finish, highlighting the briar's natural grain in a smoky and alluring stain.
