Davide Iafisco: Smooth Acorn Tobacco Pipe

While this Acorn design from Davide Iafisco doesn't have quite the same style of organic ebb as some of his others, maintaining a more sturdy profile, it is a carefully constructed piece. The bowl flares beautifully, with a bulge below the rim separating the vivid flame of the lower bowl from the tight whorls of birdseye that make up the rim's soft bevel, and a shank that lifts in a smooth gesture from transition to end. Combining some of the best of Danish and Italian neoclassical shaping, it presents a piece with the grace of the former, as well as the forward-thrust visual weight of the latter, making this a piece with plenty of depth.
