Davide Iafisco: Sandblasted Bent Dublin with Horn Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-702-0068
We've often described Davide Iafisco's shaping as being a hybrid of Italian neoclassical and Danish elements, but in the case of this bent Dublin, the latter is more readily apparent. With a sleek, sweeping bend through the transition and a steady taper, the trumpeting rim is on full display, along with its slightly craggy hint of plateau. A sandblasted finish, too, offers the low-profile texture so common to the Danish style, with rippling ring grains neatly stacked from base to rim. Rather than the bamboo shank extension one might expect, this pipe features a lengthy stretch of natural horn, a material not particularly easy to work with, but here neatly shaped to allow for a slight flare at the shank-end, with striated patterns of darker coloring along its pale surface. Quite the neat piece all around, and certainly one which shows off Davide's attention to detail on every level.
