Davide Iafisco: Sandblasted Bent Dublin Sitter with Bamboo
Product Number: 002-702-0096
So perfectly balanced that it sits stably on the small flattened nub at its heel, this Dublin from Davide Iafisco also provides visual balance, with its dark stummel echoing the dark mouthpiece, the two elements divided by a two-knuckle expanse of bamboo comprising the shank. The rim inflates from its ridgeline up to the tobacco chamber, where it reveals a delicate, smooth chamfered ring of lighter stain. The grain, you ask? It's ring grain. Beautiful, neatly stacked ripples of ring grain, from heel to rim, blasted at a moderately gnarly depth for pleasing feedback in hand. The natural longitudinal grooves of the bamboo are organically continued and terminated from the shank and into the briar at the transition and into the vulcanite of the mouthpiece, which gently expands before dropping to the flat, saddle element of the stem. Matching the coloration of the chamfering at the tobacco chamber are the nomenclature panel under the transition and the flat heel, all three in a mahogany hue that's dark, but lighter than the black of the stummel, for non-excessive contrast. There's lots of practicality and originality suffusing this smoking instrument, ready for a discerning smoker to appreciate its creativity as well as its excellent smoking qualities.- Chuck Stanion
