Davide Iafisco: Sandblasted Bent Apple with Silver
Product Number: 002-702-0100
Lithely bent and undeniably classy, this Apple from Davide Iafisco deftly demonstrates the Italian artisan's stylistic range and skillful ability to re-imagine classic shapes. It's the first pipe we've received from Davide to feature a sterling silver accent, and it's beautifully executed on this design, contrasting the rest of the piece's dark color palette to create a handsome, dress pipe aesthetic, but with the added ruggedness of a sandblast. Textural contrast is supplied by the smooth, walnut-stained rim, below which lies an array of undulating unveiled by the light-depth sandblast. The bowl is delightfully plump and affably rounded, displaying a subtle taper from its bulging flanks up toward the rim. Cheeking around the lower flanks maintains the bowl's curvaceous character while the abbreviated shank places additional emphasis on chubby bowl. The vulcanite mouthpiece makes up the majority of the piece's length, its gentle downturn nodding to the Prince shape all while tapering gracefully to the lip button.- Jeffery Sitts
