Davide Iafisco: Sandblasted Pot with Horn

Product Number: 002-702-0108

Davide Iafisco draws inspiration from master carvers such as Teddy Knudsen and fellow Italian Claudio Cavicchi, and has spent time training with American artisans Adam Davidson and Jeff Gracik. Davide has blended an array of design cues to create his own style, with this Nosewarmer straight Pot displaying the soft muscularity of American shaping, an inflated rim nodding toward the Danish design school, and an overall composition leaning toward the bowl-centric designs of the Italian neoclassical aesthetic.

The bowl presents a broad posture compared to the lithe shank, with sides that taper as they rise, creating a firm, muscular heel wide enough to sit. A low profile, ink-black sandblast accentuates cross grain, with blasted birdseye on both flanks, while the rim has been left smooth and contrast stained to illuminate sweeping striations. An accent of black horn is seamlessly incorporated in the shank end for a unified and dignified aesthetic. Trim of weight and length, and with a hand-cut vulcanite saddle stem, this diminutive, charming pipe offers excellent clenching potential and promises to be a favorite in any rotation.
