Davide Iafisco: Sandblasted Bent Brandy with Silver Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-702-0145
Davide Iafisco is an Italian artisan with a distinct individual style, drawing inspiration not only from the Italian tradition, but American and Danish schools of pipe making alike. This bent Brandy is a fine example Iafisco's unique aesthetic, featuring Danish shaping combined with an Italian sense of proportion. The bowl receives most of the emphasis in this composition, with a palm-filling, rounded heel and a broad, low-set waistline beneath supple walls that taper gently toward a slightly domed rim. Behind the cheeked transition, a comparatively slim round shank stretches out to meet a shining silver accent at its junction with a hand-cut cumberland stem that bends just enough to provide an effortless clench, as well as an extra touch of sleekness at the rear of the pipe. The stummel is dressed in a walnut and auburn contrast stain, sandblasted to reveal excellent grain around the bowl, with the combination creating a delicate interplay of color and texture, both of which are elegantly contrasted by the smooth, birdseye-dappled rim. This fine piece of workmanship is a testament to Iafisco's traditional sensibility and cutting-edge artistry, perfectly balanced in each of his creations.
