Davide Iafisco: Natural Smooth Bent Dublin Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-702-0176

With a deep appreciation for the history and craft of pipe making, Davide Iafisco takes inspiration from various schools of design. He studied personally under carvers like Teddy Knudsen and Claudio Cavicchi and attended the pipe-making seminars of Jeff Gracik and Adam Davidson. Those influences are obviously present in his work, but Iafisco channels them through his personal creative prism, resulting in unique compositions, such as this bent Dublin.

A dynamic interpretation of the classic form, this piece offers a broad, squat bowl that flares outward from its lifted heel to its broad, asymmetrical, plateau-crowned rim. Out back, a sturdy shank flicks upward and flares into a demurely curved saddle stem, which promotes a comfortable smoking posture and continues the shank's implied trajectory. Though rather muscular, this piece remains proportionally balanced, with the bowl, shank, and stem contributing equally to the form, resulting in a composition that's substantive without being unwieldy. Dressed in a warm, natural smooth finish, the stummel here boasts a wealth of gorgeous flame grain.
