Doctor's: Smooth Bent Dublin with Bamboo and Boxwood (1418) (Double Flash) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-630-0158
Roman Kovalev, the maan behind Doctor's Pipes, is a Russian carver whose style ranges from conventional pieces to more eccentric designs with flourished finishes. His playful approach is embodied by the quote displayed across his portfolio "Life is filled with smoke and friends." A perfectly oriented piece, this Dublin by Doctor has been shaped with the grain orientation in mind, most notably at the bowl, which features fine tendrils of flame grain that rise in concert with the bowl's flare. Like many pipes in Kovalev's portfolio, the shank is extended by three knuckles of tightly packed bamboo, each retaining prominent nodules on either the left or right flank for some tactile and visual intrigue. The bamboo flares seamlessly into a flaring accent of boxwood along the junction, harmoniously balanced with the matching expansion rings along the vulcanite stem's base. The stummel is dressed in a rich dark chestnut stain, which accentuates the bowl's striking grain while seamlessly complementing the overall color palette.
