Emiliano: Smooth Poker with Bamboo Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-946-0033
Brazilian craftsman Emanuel de Queiroz Emiliano's portfolio showcases an impressive range of pipe shapes, from expressive Freehands to classic, traditional designs, commonly enhanced by tasteful accents that emphasize his aesthetic. A signature element in Emiliano's work is the use of natural materials, as seen in this Poker, which features two knuckles of warm bamboo extending the shank, adding an organic flourish to the composition. Shape-wise, the bowl stands atop a flattened heel and grows thick walls that subtly cant forward, adding a touch of momentum to this otherwise static piece. At the end of this bamboo extension, the shank meets a slender saddle stem of black vulcanite, one whose base includes a neat flare out toward the bit, with this flare continuing the natural rhythm of the bamboo and creating a cohesive look throughout. The composition measures just over four and a half inches, maintaining a lightweight feel in hand for an undemanding smoking experience. The briar itself is quite impressive in this piece, displaying impeccable birdseye and cross grain throughout the bowl, highlighted by a warm chestnut stain.
