G. Penzo: Sandblasted Bog Oak '55' Bent Pot with Boxwood (Shell) (3A)
Product Number: 002-782-0016
As the title might imply, this bent Pot has clearly taken a good bit of influence from Castello's iconic "55" bent Pot, with its firm, jutting heel and stout proportions all around. Rather than briar, however, this piece has been rendered in bog oak, sandblasted to to offer an intricate, crisp texture and display some fine grain — something we've seen from Penzo before, but which here sports a light, natural-colored finish that sets a neutral backdrop to the palette at play. It's brightened up by a boxwood accent, pale and sunny, and a cumberland mouthpiece with its red brindled hues finely patterned, offering some warmth overall.
