G. Penzo: Smooth Chimney (B) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-782-0096

Giacomo Penzo boasts an incredibly varied style, showcasing skill in crafting pipes steeped in the artistry of the Italian, Danish, and Anglo-French styles: all while infusing them with his own unique aesthetics. This Chimney is one of the most striking pipes we've seen from the artisan, being the first of its kind to grace our site. A remarkable kind of reinterpretation of the shape, this pipe's proportions are closer in line with the Billiard, given the lengthiness of the shank in comparison to the bowl's height. The transition is more than wide enough to drape a digit, and it gives way to said shank, a round, slim stretch of briar that extends out to meet a sleek saddle stem of black vulcanite with a subtle expansion ring at the base. Up front, the bowl stands atop a rounded heel, growing walls that reach more than three inches in height and take on an understated flare to a high-set waistline. This curvature makes for a comfortable presence in hand, and it affords the silhouette of the pipe an Egg-like look as the walls rise to an asymmetric, plateau-crowned rim. Dressed in a deep, rich, smoky stain, the stummel showcases handsome grain throughout, with flame surrounding the bowl and striated by draped bands of visible growth rings.
