G. Penzo: Sandblasted Eggy Lovat (A) Tobacco Pipe

Originally from Italy with a background in industrial engineering, Giacomo Penzo now works in Ireland as Peterson's in-house pipe specialist. Penzo also crafts his own pipes, producing a wide portfolio of pieces that range from traditional Anglo-French shapes to unique and whimsical silhouettes. This particular Lovat from Penzo displays muscular and unique shaping within a compact profile. Just over four and a half inches long, this pipe approaches Nosewarmer proportions, making it a great option for travel and on-the-go smoking. As the title would infer, the bowl of this Lovat brings to mind the shape of an Egg, as its curvaceous heel dips below the transition and its walls rise with a taper toward the rim. The mid-set transition gives way to a sturdy, rounded shank that takes up the majority of the aft's visual weight before meeting the shoulders of an abbreviated saddle stem. The red and black hues of the cumberland stem pair well with the dark stain of the sandblasted stummel, displaying impressive growth rings around the bowl.
