Grechukhin Design: Sandblasted Standing Bent Apple with Ivorite
Product Number: 002-808-0023
A marvel of structure, this bent Apple from Grechukhin Design is one of those pieces that feels like it shouldn't be possible, its well-rounded bowl seemingly at odds with the clean lines of its shank, especially the foot at the fore of the bowl that allows it to stand. It's the work of Vladimir Grechukhin's keen shaping, and his ability to balance proportions beautifully through a piece. That is combined with the skill of Alexander Tupitsyn's finishing, on display in the form of a low-profile sandblast and red-tinged contrast stain, which has highlighted the best of the briar's grain all around. A shank end of ivorite creates a vivid contrast that does not feel at all out of place, deftly capping off the piece, and really highlighting the overall cohesiveness of the pipe.- Rachel DuBose
