Grechukhin Design: Sandblasted Standing Acorn with Ivorite
Product Number: 002-808-0024
With a soft rim and a trim taper, this would be a fine take on the Acorn if rendered in a traditional form, the cinch-and-flare of the shank offering a whole lot of elegance in profile. In this Grechukhin Design piece, however, it has been given a sturdy foot at the fore of the bowl, allowing it to stand quite proudly with its shank and stem high-kicking in profile. It's the work of Vladimir Grechukhin's sculptural shaping style, with finishing done by Alexander Tupitsyn, his keen hand in the blasting cabinet bringing out fine lines of ring grain around the bowl. Top it all off with a low dome of ivorite at the shank end, and this is one impressive piece all around.- Rachel DuBose
