Grechukhin Design: Sandblasted Bent Egg with Boxwood
Product Number: 002-808-0045
Typically, Grechukhin Design pipes favor short, stout shanks, making this bent Egg somewhat of an outlier within the Russian workshop's portfolio. That said, this offering still remains fairly compact with the shank nudging it slightly past nosewarmer status before the saddle stem terminates in a gentle downturn. The plump, curvaceous bowl displays a hint of forward cant in profile and is finished in a crisp sandblast that has coaxed out a fascinating array of grain. The rim has been left smooth to offer a hint of textural contrast, complementing the trim band of smooth briar along the shank end. A pale band of boxwood adorns the stem's base, standing out in stark contrast between the jet-black mouthpiece and the stummel's crimson-tinged contrast stain.- Jeffery Sitts
