Grechukhin: Smooth Bent Brandy

Product Number: 002-497-0089

While the style is textbook Grechukhin, this exact shape combination isn't something we've seen from Vladimir before, that I can find. The flat-sided, vertical-ovoid shank for example is very much a Grachukhin signature, but in this shorter configuration it's always been paired to a stockier bowl-form. As for the bent Brandy, well that itself is an uncommon shape for Grechukhin, and most of those we have seen have been longer and gradually curved of shank - some of Vladimir's most Danish-looking designs, actually. I quite like this combination; the Brandy bowl, pretty much a taller version of one of his common Apple shapes, is soft and easy in hand, with the extra height providing extra room for the thumb to wrap around under the rear of the rim. Paired with this style of shank, which produces a deep transition but a narrow cross-section (making room for the base of the thumb), the ergonomics are just perfect.
