Grechukhin: Smooth Bent Brandy with Polymerized Organics
Product Number: 002-497-0129
This is the most subtle of the three Grechukhins going up in the same batch today. Though each of the three are technically different shapes (a Large Blowfish, an Asymmetrical bent Apple, and here, a bent Brandy) they do all share a theme: bowls that show a sort of rolling asymmetry in cross-section, rims that at the forward edge show a sense of lift, and shanks that flare with an upward, crisp flick. While this Brandy's contrast stain and polymerized organic accent have the boldest look, shape-wise it is the most modest, and the softest. The Blowfish has its curve drawn out in much the same lengthened manner, but possess a sheer substance and scale that makes it powerful and more forceful; the Apple in length and height is far close to this pipe, yet is stocky, compact, and again more powerful in manner familiar among Vladimir's creations.
In short, what we have is Grechukhin juxtaposing a shape that's unusually gentle and restrained for his style, with a palette of briar and accent that sill allows it as a whole to possess that sort of life we expect from this artisan's work.
