Grechukhin: Sandblasted Magnum Long Shank Bent Bulldog with Boxwood
Product Number: 002-497-0147
If you've been around Vladimir's work at all recently, this extra, extra large Long Shank bent Bulldog should look fairly familiar. It is, in essence, one of the Russian master's signature asymmetric Bulldog designs scaled up to colossal Magnum proportions. Though measuring over 8 inches in length, with an overall weight of just under 150 grams, the quintessential shaping cues are all there; the forward tilted beadline, backwards canted rim, and long, upward arcing, subtly flared shank... these are the bread and butter of Vladimir's Bulldog and Rhodesian shapes — all of which are emphasized all the more in this elephantine scale. Suffice to say, if you're a fan of Grechukhin's work, or a fan of larger pipes in general, this is a beautiful piece you're not going to want to pass up. After all, it's not every day we see briars this large from the Russian master. Recommended.- Andrew Wike
