Grechukhin: Smooth Rhodesian with Boxwood
Product Number: 002-497-0201
Grechukhin's Rhodesians tend to be a slightly more canted take on the shape, and this piece is no exception. The usual bead line has been replaced by a crisp ridge, which marks the edge of the bowl's flame grain as it transitions to tight birdseye at the beveled rim, while the fore of the piece seems almost angular as it's brought upward to meet the chamber. To offset the stummel's warm, fiery contrast stain, a thin accent of pale boxwood has been used to great effect at the shank-end, while the mouthpiece resents the broad base and clean bend that we've come to expect from Grechukhin. An elegant, modern piece.- Rachel DuBose
