I'm at a loss to name a carver who brings so many seemingly opposing design elements together and unites them in complete harmony quite like Vladimir Grechukhin. For this particular iteration of the bent Egg, Vladimir elected to take a smooth, round, palm-filling bowl and pair it with a crisp, sandblasted, diamond-shaped shank extension of ancient morta. One would think that all of these individual parts would clash when combined, but the Russian master has ultimately created a balanced, exquisite composition, while elevating each singular component. Undoubtedly unusual and unquestionably unique, this is certain to be a must-have for collectors of Grechukhin's work.
