Grechukhin: Sandblasted Bent Egg with Ivorite
Product Number: 002-497-0264
A relatively small pipe, this Grechukhin bent Egg reflects his Danish influences, especially in the rounded bowl, tight transition, and expanding shank. The contrast chestnut stain highlights not only the craggy growth rings flowing along the sides of the bowl, but the vertical grain as well, showing grain streaks running up the bowl all around. The shank end cap is made of ivorite, a plastic, synthetic material with the grain and feel of ivory.
The shank is not only the physical centerpiece of this composition, but the most interesting feature: Tall and narrow, it cinches at the transition for pronounced bowl cheeking, and a crisp, asymmetrical ridgeline runs along the bottom to the heel. The shank expands to the mouthpiece from any axis, but is especially slender from a top or bottom perspective. The rim is partially sandblasted, with an inner ring of smooth briar in concave orientation. And, the mouthpiece work is top-of-the-line. Small enough to pocket carry, but large enough to have a serious smoke, this pipe has it all.- Chuck Stanion
