The sandblast for this pipe is very low-profile, while the grain is still well coaxed. A meaty shank curves ever so slightly toward the saddle mouthpiece, and the transition from bowl to shank is low, along with the low waistline of the bowl. Pleasant curves abound, making this piece easy in the hand and on the eyes. Dressed in monochromatic, traditional black from rim to lip button, it would be at home at the opera, a fancy dinner, or sitting around a campfire. We'll be watching this young carver as his career develops, though it's hard to imagine anyone getting any better than this.
