Jacono: Rook Bent Dublin
Product Number: 002-616-0632
Tonino Jacono doesn't often hew toward the Fancy Freehand style of many other Italian carvers, making this piece something of a rarity in his portfolio. It's clearly a bent Dublin at its roots, yet the strikingly flared shank end and plateau at the face and the rim lend it that fanciful, floral aesthetic. Marked by a curling transition and flaring, thick-walled bowl, it's a piece that fits squarely in hand and houses no shortage of chamber space. It here showcases a gorgeous array of flame grain all across the stummel, dressed in a walnut contrast stain and complemented by a creamy acrylic stem for a bright color palette all around.-Truett Smith
