One of Tonino Jacono's highest grades, the Rook series showcases the Italian artisan's use of premium briar and his gifted eye for grain orientation on smooth pipes. Here we see Jacono's remarkable talents demonstrated on this bent Dublin, its undulating rim promoting a floral aesthetic in profile while its seamlessly smooth transition gives it a Horn-esque quality. Along with offering a capacious chamber, this piece feels quite natural in hand, the deep, sweeping transition offering ample space for the thumb to comfortably drape over. The grain orientation around the stummel is visually captivating, with streaks of windswept flame grain exploding along the flanks. It's expertly finished in one of Jacono's striking contrast stains, accented by a olivewood mount that displaying some fascinating grain patterns of its own.
