Jacono: Knight Cherrywood
Product Number: 002-616-1031
An interesting Cherrywood rendition from Tonino Jacono, this shape reminds me very much of the Volcano, though only in its bowl shape, tapering to the rim from the flat-bottomed bowl. The shank and stem are demurely arced, the latter's saddle configuration and creamy color both adding some svelteness and a contrasting palette to the darker hues of the stummel. The bowl features a slight forward cant and a domed rim, the rim finished smooth for additional contrast, giving the pipe a bit of momentum as it urges onward. The stummel is covered in Jacono's craggy Knight rustication, adding a great deal of textural appeal to the briar's surface, its dark stain offset by the light coloration of the rim and smooth shank end.-John McElheny
