Jacono: Pawn Acorn Tobacco Pipe

In a bit of a departure from his usual fare, Italian carver Tonino Jacono presents an Acorn with the kind of smooth, gestural shaping I expect to see from Danish pipe makers. The size is ample, however, and combines with a grain-defining, low-profile sandblast to create a delightful presence in hand. The shape eases from round rim through a seamless transition, meeting a supple, downturned saddle stem that curls downward to offer a comfortable smoking posture. When Jacono does make Acorns, he normally goes for the a straight, neoclassic design, making this lithe example a bit of a rarity in his portfolio.
