Jacono: Knight Volcano Tobacco Pipe

This forward-leaning Volcano from Tonino Jacono strikes a handsome profile, the angled, flattened base encircled by the form's wrapping ridgeline along with a taper toward the circular rim. The Italian carver is known for his generous proportions, with this piece being a fine example. The hearty bowl is paired with an arcing shank and stem, the entire composition hinting at the Cherrywood. A fine Sitter, Tonino has dressed this piece in the earthy, pebbly-textured Knight rustication save for the smooth, lightly stained rim and trim band of briar at the shank end. It's all topped by a saddle mouthpiece of taupe-colored acrylic.
