Jacono: Knight Rhodesian Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-616-1259
Quite an interesting rendition of the classic Rhodesian shape, this piece from Jacono showcases the workshop's neoclassical style without overly dramatizing any of its elements. What strikes me first is the shank and stem arrangement, with the shank being rather strikingly extended and taking on a gentle taper from the transition to the base of the stem, while the stem is a trim saddle of black acrylic. Something of a Lovat-meets-Rhodesian in that respect, the bowl here sits atop a rounded heel and flares out gently to a mid-set waist that's marked by a single beadline. From here there's a taper to the rim, with the entirety of the bowl rising to more than two inches in height, said rim overlooking a capacious chamber. A dark, auburn-stained rendition of the Knight rustication dresses the briar here, offering plenty of texture in the hand, while a bit of contrast is introduced by the light stain of the rim and a trim band at the shank end.
