This Lovat from Tonino Jacono is a handsome rendition of the shape-chart standard. As is typical for the form, this piece pairs a tall, upright bowl to a protracted shank and an abbreviated saddle stem. The bowl here holds most of the visual weight within the composition, its rigid posture, thick insulating walls, and towering height overshadowing the sleek, low-set shank-and-stem arrangement. A distinctive dual finish, courtesy of the Bishop line, dresses the stummel and juxtaposes the shank's crisp rustication against the bowl's smoothly polished surface.
