Instead of utilizing olivewood as an accenting material, like many other carvers do, Tonino Jacono crafts entire pipes out of the alternative material. The medium's inky grain patterns and sandy complexion are on full display with this Rhodesian shape. In typical Italian neoclassical fashion, the broad, ridgeline-wrapped bowl holds most of the visual weight within the composition, its muscular build and wide stance overshadowing the comparatively trim shank-and-stem arrangement.
