Jacono: Pawn Apple with Boxwood Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-616-1615
Tonino Jacono, along with his father-in-law and brother-in-law, created the Jacono company in 1981. While each member had their own roles, they were all united by the common goal of creating high-quality pipes at a fair price. This Apple from Jacono is a more straightforward take on the form, though it features some subtle alterations for a distinctive look. A pert bowl is posed at the fore of the composition with a subtle forward cant, formed by sturdy walls curving slightly from the gently upturned heel and traveling straight toward the flat rim. Adorned at the end with boxwood, a balanced shank transitions from the bowl and meets a trim, tapered stem of jet-black acrylic. Jacono pipes are graded according to a chess-themed naming convention, with this "Pawn" piece wearing a dark, crisp sandblast that reveals rippling growth rings wrapping around the bowl, the smooth rim and warm accent offering a delightful contrast.
