Jacono: Rook Lumberman Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-616-1624
In 1981, Tonino Jacono, his father-in-law, and his brother-in-law banded together to form the Jacono brand with the intent of making high quality pipes at the best possible price. This Liverpool from Jacono leans more toward the reserved side of shaping, with its furthest deviation from the classic form being the slanted rim. Where a Canadian's oval shank might further accentuate the bowl's height or thickness, the width of this pipe's round shank stays rather proportional to the size of the forward-canted bowl. Topping off a chamber of impressive depth, birdseye crowns the bowl's wide rim. Dense flame grain directs the gaze down the shallowly tapered bowl to a flat heel upon which the pipe stands with stoic poise, and a wide transition connects the bowl to the long shank. Unobtrusive with its dark brown brindle coloring, the abbreviated saddle stem smartly punctuates the pipe's aft. The pipe, based on a chess-themed grading system, is designated as "Rook," its stummel wearing a smooth, light-stained finish.
